On Friday, May 28, 2021, Continental officially opened in downtown Nashville. This upscale American restaurant, located in the Grand Hyatt Nashville, is a concept created by Husk and Joyland founding chef Sean Brock. Guests can enjoy modern cuisine, table-side cart service, and a lively atmosphere.
Interior
The modern and colorful interior was designed by Nick Dryden from DAAD. The dining room has two bar counters, luxurious banquettes and large booths for comfortable relaxation. Chef Sean Brock demonstrates his love of art by displaying works for sale and his own photographs throughout the restaurant. Continental has partnered with local artists and creators to bring the space to life, including Southern Lights Electric for lighting, New Hats for wallpaper, Mobile Fixture for kitchen design, and Kings Upholstery for curtains.
Exterior
The Continental is located on the corner of 10th Street and Broadway. Guests can choose to have their car valeted by a hotel employee or park on their own in the gravel lot next to the Grand Hyatt Nashville. Outdoor seating is coming soon.
Menu
Chef Sean Broca focuses on flavor and presentation. The menu is inspired by the gourmet cuisine of American hotels. Custom dining carts made by the local workshop Aberdeen Studio will serve guests such popular dishes as Continental Rib Eye and Vanilla Bean Custard. Additional menu items include Gruetli cheese fondue, Maine Diver scallops and Pacific red crab parfait. Complement any meal with a signature cocktail or drink.
Another feature of Bar Continental that makes it stand out is the way Brock has divided the space into three sections, with large black acoustic curtains between the rooms used to enhance the sound quality of the audio system. On one side is the Onken bar, which seats up to 21 guests. Wolf bar is designed for 24 guests. Both bars have bar seats and stools, leather banquettes, comfortable tables and warm wood finishes. There is also a main dining room with 46 seats. Each evening there is also a section for those who prefer to listen to records at a lower volume.
